A Festival of Love: Joanne & Mat's Vow Renewal Ceremony in Burnley

We are beyond excited to share our experience photographing Joanne and Mat's festival-themed vow renewal ceremony. Set in the rural hills near Burnley, surrounded by fields and farmland, this celebration was a vibrant, joyous, and deeply emotional event that we were honoured to capture.

A Rural Festival Dream

Joanne and Mat's home provided the perfect setting for their festival-themed celebration. The rural location offered a sense of seclusion, allowing the party to be as loud and lively as a true festival should be. The surrounding fields and farmland added to the rustic charm, creating an atmosphere of relaxed fun and freedom.

Festival Vibes and Fun Games

The festival theme was brought to life with brightly coloured flags, hand-made decorations, hay bales, a balloon arch, and even a decorated tractor and trailer. The couple also set up festival-style games, including inflatable axe-throwing, a giant inflatable dart-board, a high striker, and giant versions of Connect 4 and Buzz Wire. These games added a playful and competitive element to the day, keeping guests entertained and engaged.

Teepee Tents and Tasty Treats

A large teepee tent served as the backdrop for the ceremony, the speeches, and later, the band and disco. Street food vendors served gourmet fish and chips during the day and Mexican food in the evening, adding to the festival vibe.

A Day Filled with Emotion

The day was filled with high emotions, as Mat had recently recovered from a stroke. The couple's personal vows brought up raw feelings, but Mat's sister, who conducted the ceremony dressed as a vicar, managed to bring laughter back into the mix. The joy and gratitude of the couple were palpable, and their close-knit group of family and friends were thrilled to be part of their special day.

Capturing the Perfect Day

The sunny weather, coupled with a cool breeze, made for perfect conditions for an outdoor wedding. We captured the joy and relief of the couple and their guests, who were all grateful to finally be celebrating after having to reschedule the wedding twice. The neighbouring field, filled with tall grass, provided a beautiful setting for group photos, especially with the warm, soft glow of the sunset.

A Magical Ending

The day ended magically with the bridal party on a tractor trailer, surrounded by pink smoke bombs. The soft lighting and the wide countryside views captured by our drone made for some truly stunning photos. These are our favourite images from the wedding, and we believe they would look amazing in an album or as large wall prints.

A Festival-Themed Wedding to Remember

Joanne and Mat's festival-themed vow renewal ceremony was a day to remember. From the vibrant colours to the high-energy games and the emotional ceremony, every moment was a pleasure to photograph. We are grateful to Jennifer, the event manager, for her excellent organisation and communication, and to Nicole, our second shooter, for her fantastic work. We had a blast getting to know the couple's family and friends, and we can't wait to photograph more festival-themed weddings in the future.
